Thad Lettsome becomes the first sailor for the BVI in 30 years to officially qualify for a Pan American Games. The ILCA 7 laser sailor clinched the single Santiago 2023 Pan American Games qualifier spot in final races at the San Salvador 2023 CAC Games.

Lettsome placed 2nd in the second race of the final day of racing on Saturday 1 July sealing the spot with his best race of the series. 

With an 8th place finish in the 7th and 9th races, Thad missed out on an overall 5th place finish by just 1 point to place 6th in the regatta. The ultimate result is a significant breakthrough for the Virgin Islands.
