Deputy Governor And Premier Rush To Save ‘Face’

Following reports of planned industrial action from Custom Officers, the Premier Honourable Natalio Wheatley and Deputy Governor David Archer are now in a battle to rectify the matter of outstanding increments as more Government offices and entities threaten further industrial action.  Threats continue to come in to media houses from varying departments with intended plans of striking.

Some residents say the cup has run over.

In an interview the Premier indicated that “News reports suggesting that Customs was planning a strike this morning are false. I, along with the Deputy Governor, the Financial Secretary, and members of the Customs department, held a meeting to discuss various areas of concern. The spokesperson for the group explicitly stated that no industrial action was planned. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a platform for the officers to express their concerns and receive feedback. It was a productive session, and several action items were committed to in order to address these concerns.”

However, Officers maintain their intentions to the media to strike.

Payment of outstanding increments is at the center of the fallout.
