ROAD TOWN, British Virgin Islands - July 24, 2023 - The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has announced the appointment of a new Human Resources Manager, Dierdra Wheatley-Peters, PhD who will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s talent management strategy forward.
The BVIHSA has been successful in recruiting Mrs. Wheatley-Peters to lead the organization’s Human Resources Department. Mrs. Wheatley-Peters has extensive public service experience, having worked at the Ministry of Health & Social Development (Housing Recovery), Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour, Department of Human Resources, and the H. Lavity Stout Community College.
With over 15 years of experience in various aspects of Human Resources services, Mrs. Wheatley-Peters brings with her a wealth of knowledge and innovative ideas. She previously held the leadership position of Human Resources Manager, at the Ministry of Health and Social Development, where she led a variety of staff improvement initiatives.
As BVIHSA’s new Human Resources Manager, Mrs. Wheatley-Peters will play a key role in overseeing all HR functions, including recruitment and staffing, training and development, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and compliance with labor laws.
Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon. Vincent Wheatley, welcomed Dr. Wheatley-Peters, emphasizing the crucial role of Human Resources management in the BVIHSA's pursuit of providing world-class healthcare services. Hon. Wheatley stressed the significance of the dedicated staff as frontline first responders in public health matters. He further stated; “The Ministry of Health is delighted to reaffirm its commitment to supporting the efforts of the BVIHSA in ensuring that all key positions are filled with qualified experts to further enhance the quality of healthcare services offered.”
