Fight On Derelict Vehicles Rages On
The Department of Waste Management has launched an information system to provide the Territory with up-to-date information regarding derelict vehicle removals.
Director of Waste Management, Mr. Marcus Solomon said the Derelict Removal Information System is needed to ensure that persons can access information regarding their tagged vehicle whether it is located on private or public property.
The system offers real time access to a list of vehicles pending removal, information about the vehicle’s location, condition and removal date and a halt request form.
“The halt request form gives owners an opportunity to contest and prevent the removal of a specific derelict vehicle,” Mr. Solomon explained, adding, “This process allows for community engagement and gives the owners an opportunity to voice their concerns.”
According to the director, the Derelict Removal Information System website is designed to be intuitive and mobile-friendly, ensuring that users of all backgrounds can easily navigate the platform and access the information they need.
The community can visit the website at https://eservices.gov.vg/derelict/
Persons are also urged to continue to identify derelicts on private and public property and contact the department at 468-4934 or via the BVIGovReportit app. Persons are advised to record location information and submit to the department or via the app accompanied with photo where applicable.
