Will the Virgin Islands Hold Free and Fair Elections?

Did the VIP REJECT Carvin Malone?

In a stunning defeat, Hon. Natalio Wheatley has regained leadership of the VIP with a 60-12 vote.

However, word reaching our newsroom is that the Honourable Natalio Wheatley told members of the VIP Congress that the UK does not want either Hon. Vincent Wheatley or Hon. Carvin Malone to hold Ministries, and  should the Congress vote for Hon. Carvin Malone, the UK will pull (suspend) the VI Constitution.

In the reshuffling of the Government following former Premier Andrew Fahie’s arrest, Hon. Carvin Malone and Hon. Vincent Wheatley were relieved of their Ministerial seats. It was said that they were asked to give up their seats so that a Unity Government could be formed, stating that this would save the VI’s constitution from being suspended. ‘The Uk wanted a unified Government’, the Territory was told.

However, rumours continue to circulate that both former Ministers are under investigation. An allegation neither the Premier nor the Governor has ever confirmed.

In a surprising move to the Territory, Honourable Malone crossed the floor on Thursday February 2nd from the Opposition, back to the Unity Government in anticipation of Sunday evening’s vote.

The Territory now wonders if the upcoming general elections will be free and fair, or indirectly fixed by the UK; or whether the Hon. Natalio Wheatley can be trusted or is using the Virgin Island’s vulnerability to his advantage.

Story developing…
