RVIPF URGES MOTORISTS TO ADHERE TO TRAFFIC LAWS
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is reminding the motoring public that it is illegal to operate a vehicle that is unlicensed and uninsured on any public road. A person that operates a vehicle without the requisite qualifications specified under the Road Traffic Act Cap. 218 commits an offense and, if found, will be arrested, charged, and prosecuted for such acts.
For the entire month of December, the RVIPF will pay special attention to motorists, particularly to large trucks, ATVs, and passenger buses now seen regularly violating the Road Traffic Act Cap 218. To ensure everyone's safety, Police will be taking robust actions against these infractions.
While the RVIPF is responsible for enforcing road traffic laws, our primary concern is the potential harm, injuries, or even fatalities resulting from uninspected and less-than-road-worthy vehicles on BVI roads. In such circumstances, legal drivers may have no recourse for addressing injuries or repairing their vehicles in the absence of insurance coverage.
The RVIPF is dedicated to creating safer roadways by ensuring every vehicle and driver fully complies with the law. We urge the community to play an active role in this endeavor. If you suspect someone is operating an unlicensed or uninsured vehicle, please report them to any police station or call the three-digit access number 311.
Act responsibly and adhere to road regulations. Let's work together to promote safety and compliance on our roads.
