The Newly Appointed Managing Board of the BVI Tourist Board Is in Shambles
Reports reaching our newsroom is stating that the members of the Board have walked out on Chairman Delma Maduro today February 8th 2023 during a meeting held this morning.
Our newsroom is understanding that the board, except for three persons including the Chairman, signed a letter to remove Delma Maduro as Chairman. She was given an opportunity to redeem herself in the meeting, but was steadfast in the meeting, forcing the Board to walk out.
Problems within the Board have been brewing for some time, with reports that the Chairman has been working in silo. There’s been growing tension. Reports state that the Members feel as though the Chairman operates as if it’s business as usual displaying a lack of respect for Roberts Rules of Order and lacks basic knowledge of how motions are put forth, carried and accepted. The Chairman it is said, prefers to and continues to make decisions without following due process.
There were concerns around the appointment of the present Chairman and queries regarding her relationship (close cousins) to the Honourable Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley and the conflict it poses, as well as her inability to manage the position placed in.
It is noted that the Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office Carolyn Stoutt Igwe was in the meeting but was unable to control the outcome.
It was just yesterday February 7th that Guavaberry Media House reported on the abrupt departure of Deputy Director Rhodni Skelton. The BVI Tourist Board’s staff are all working remotely at this time as their new offices are plagued with a mould infestation.
More to come on this developing story….
