Officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force responded to reports of a shooting in the John’s Hole area, Road Town, after 9 pm on Friday, 22 March.
One male individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to Dr. Orlando Smith's Hospital where he remains after undergoing successful surgery and treatment. The victim in this incident has been identified as Jeron Romney.
A further incident of gunfire which has been confirmed by Police, occurred on Saturday night 23 March, in the Huntum’s Ghut area, less than 24 hours after Friday night’s attempted murder.
Initial early reports indicated that someone was injured. However, after investigations by Police, no one has been reported injured.
In less than another 24 hours of the second incident, the public was rattled once again by gun fire, again reported to have happened in the Huntum’s Ghut area just after 7:00pm last night Sunday 24 March.
Our newsroom received several reports of the incident, and reports of concern by a very emotionally heightened public.
Guavaberry Media reached out to Police on the incident last night, and they indicated that they had received reports from the public and were investigating the matter, however they also indicated no reports of injuries early in their investigation.
The weekend’s spate of violence is unprecedented for the small Territory, and has left many concerned about the level of crime the Territory now face.
