PREMIER TO SEEK FURTHER EXTENSION IN COI IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS
Information reaching our newsroom indicates that the Honourable Premier is attempting to request a further extension on the COI Recommendations Implementation. We understand that the requested time being sought, is August 2024.
Yesterday Thursday 23 May, the Premier along with his Acting Director of Communications Karia Christopher, attempted to, in a preplanned and what appeared to be a pre rehearsed interview, quell discomfort around the upcoming end of May deadline for the completion of the COI Recommendations implementation process. However, less than an hour later, the Governor announced a press conference to update the public on same.
During the Premier’s interview, he noted that the implementations were 68% completed, with one week to go, to the end of May.
Governor Rankin’s final report on the COI prior to his departure in early January, had requested additional powers for the Governor’s Office in order to complete the Recommendations.
There is a continued growing angst among residents that the Premier is unable to prioritize the actual needs of the Territory, and lack the ability to properly and effectively lead.
Today, Friday 24 May will be Governor Pruce’s first official press conference with the Media and Public, since being sworn into office in early January 2024.
