FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE CHARGED
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, the RVIPF arrested a previous House of Assembly Speaker in relation to two ongoing criminal investigations.
The first investigation relates to Visa Waivers issued between 2018 and 2022 and the second investigation relates to a forged document presented to the BVI Immigration Department in 2022.
As a result Julian Willock, 56, of Sea Cows Bay, was charged with one count of a Public Official Using his Office for Gratification, contrary to section 83 of the 2013 Criminal Code, one count of Conspiracy to Provide False Information to a Person Employed in a Public Service, contrary to sections 124 and 346 of the2013 Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Uttering a Forged Document, contrary to sections 257 and 346 of the 2013 Criminal Code. Mr. Willock was granted $50,000 bail to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on September 12, 2024.
This comes following two complex investigations led by the COI Police Investigation Team, that spanned over 18 months. As the matter is now in sub judice the RVIPF will make no further comment.
