DONATION PRESENTED TO BVI ASSOCIATIONS
The Police Week Planning Committee of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) under the leadership of then Deputy Commissioner Alwin James, decided in 2020, to raffle a vehicle as a fund-raising project during that year’s Police Week activities. Mr. Shan Mohammed of Tortola Auto Group (TAG) very happily gave his support to the idea and assisted with acquiring a 2019 Ford Ranger XLT pickup truck. Other kind sponsors were NAGICO Insurance, Delta Petroleum, KAD Pools, PST Law and Travel Wise.
The pickup truck was raffled on December 24, 2020, with the proud winner being a female resident of the East End community. The Committee was extremely grateful for the support of the community and decided that the profits would be presented to a community organization.
The work of the BVI Scouts and Girl Guides BVI in ensuring that our young children are taught life skills, discipline and values deserved some support. It was also recognized that since the passing of Hurricane Irma in 2017, the building where they hosted activities was severely damaged and in need of repairs; therefore, they were selected as the recipients for our donations.
The RVIPF apologizes for the lengthy wait for this presentation, but we can proudly say that today, August 25, 2024, we presented a donation of $15,430 to these organisations. We are battling the lost of our young persons to crime, drugs and peer pressure, therefore, we must commend these organisations for the work they are doing against all odds.
We hope that these funds will assist in continuing the work of both associations to the BVI community.
