One Dead One Missing in Boating Incident

After 10 PM on Thursday, September 5, a distress call was made by a male to 911 from a vessel traveling from Jost Van Dyke that encountered trouble and had begun taking on water.

In response to the call, Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Marine officers and Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) immediately launched a coordinated search operation in the area. During the search, the partially submerged vessel and, tragically, the body of a young woman was found. Despite extensive efforts, the male individual was not found.

The vessel and the deceased were transported to the Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Marine Base (VILEMB) where the young woman was officially pronounced

dead.
