At the time of the hand over, Director for the Public Works Department Jeremy Hodge stated…

“We are now better equipped to build a road infrastructure that we can truly be proud of. Our commitment to addressing all the roads in the Territory in a holistic manner remains unwavering. Rest assured, we will continue to prioritise the improvement of the road infrastructure in the foreseeable future”

“Furthermore, it enables us to stretch our limited resources designated to road maintenance, making a positive impact on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our road infrastructure.”

The Director also stated that the commissioning of the asphalt plant was also a major achievement for the Government and people of the Virgin Islands.

The roads of the Territory however, have remained in a deplorable state, while Government continues to outsource their need for asphalt.

Information to our newsroom has stated that the area has been in said condition since the passing of Ernesto. The information further states that the building was poorly constructed and floods every time there is rain.

Our newsroom also understands that there is a technician on island presently, working on the Plant.
