Julian Fraser Demands Premier Seat
Inside sources are confirming that Julian Fraser, freshly elected District 3 Representative is uncooperative in discussions on forming the next Government of the Virgin Islands. It has been made clear to our newsroom that he is adamant on being the Premier and that no other position or Ministry will work. We understand discussions are off the table unless he is made Premier.
The Territory has rejected Honourable Julian Fraser’s quest for Premier on more than one occasions, in both 2015 and 2019 general elections; and he was unable to pull a team together to contest the 2023 elections, with just himself contesting on his party’s ticket.
We are understanding that both the PVIM and NDP are prepared to work together to form a Government that will function in the people’s best interest, and that compromises have already been made on both sides of the aisle; Ronnie W. Skelton to be the Premier and Marlon Penn as Deputy. However, Honourable Fraser will not compromise.
We will continue to monitor as the 13 newly elected members attempt to form a new Government.
General Elections were held across the Territory, yesterday April 24th, ushering in 13 new Members to the 5th House of Assembly.
