Customs Calls For Public Support Following Major Drug Bust
His Majesty's Customs Department is calling on the public to join the fight against illicit drug trafficking after a significant drug seizure this week.
This appeal follows the successful interception of a major drug importation operation by officers of His Majesty's Customs Department. The seizure took place during a routine inspection on December 10, 2024, when officers discovered a substantial number of packages containing green vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.
Acting Commissioner of Customs, Clinton Romney, emphasised that the efforts underscore the agency's longstanding commitment to securing the borders and communities from the devastating effects of illegal drugs. He further stated that “this is a significant win in the Customs Department's fight against drug trafficking. It also sends a strong message to those who seek to profit from the importation of illicit drugs.”
The drugs were handed over to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, where the investigation will continue. No one was arrested at this time.
The Customs Department encourages the public to assist in the fight against illicit drugs by reporting any information to authorities.
