On Saturday January 11, 2025, our newsroom was informed of an incident on the sea, in the North Sound area, involving Gumption Tours. As in any other incident, our newsroom did the necessary research, and reported on the incident, free of bias. Our account of the incident not only came from numerous eyewitness accounts, but we were also provided with video footage of the ongoing rescue, as well as images of the incident, and the damaged boat.

By late evening, Arlington ‘Gumption’ Creque had taken to his Gumption.Official Facebook page to insult Guavaberry Media through insinuations, and to cast aspersions on the credibility of the media company.
To date, Guavaberry Media is the only media company to have reported on the incident, thereby eliminating any other media company the assertions could have been aimed at.
Further to Gumption’s attack on the media company, he then moved to verbally attack the owner of the company as well, Cindy Rosan.
In proven Gumption style, he shared a screenshot of a conversation between himself and Rosan, of her gratefulness for his financial contribution. What he didn’t share with his followers however, was that the contribution was a sponsorship for the annual Women’s Event she hosts on March 8th each year. The sponsorship was for the 2024 event to which ‘Booked And Busy’ an affiliate of Gumption, received promotion per the sponsorship agreement, Ms. Rosan relayed to GBM.
Soon after making the Facebook post, Gumption deleted the post, but not before numerous eyewitnesses had seen it, including Rosan herself.
Gumption Has History Of Brutal Verbal Attacks On Community
From time to time, Gumption has taken to his Facebook page to express in degrading, graphic detail, the assistance he has rendered to persons and entities across the Territory.
One of the most graphic and disrespectful was in late 2023, when he verbally attacked members of the community about his contributions to them, further attacking anyone who dared to come to their defense.
Several calls were made to our newsroom, and to our CEO expressing continued disappointment in Gumption’s ongoing behaviour, with others sharing stories of encounters with him, and others expressing totally severed relationships with him and all of his entities. Reports coming in from a wide cross section of the Territory.
“Well it is clear to most, that Gumption’s support of entities and persons in the community, was not from genuine care.” One caller said to our newsroom.
Another caller went on to express disappointment stating that “it was sad to witness his behaviour. No one should be privy to private details of support for anyone.”
By summer 2024, Gumption announced that he would be pulling back from his charitable efforts citing displeasure in not feeling recognized and appreciated enough for his efforts.
Attempt To Seek Favour With The Media?
At the end of 2022, Gumption reached out to our CEO Cindy Rosan to say he had purchased gift items for her, and another female Journalist, inquiring on where they could be delivered. He indicated that he was grateful for their work in media and that Rosan and the other member of media were ‘his favourites’.
“Based on what has now transpired, I have donated one item of the gifts to the BVI Red Cross, and discarded of the other items.” Cindy Rosan, CEO of GBM
Guavaberry Media cannot speak to any other gifts/donations, sponsorship or ad monies Gumption may have spent with other media houses, however, Gumption’s behaviour on Saturday evening indicates he expects that the media would not cover stories that could be of a negative light on him or his company.
Guavaberry’s Integrity Will Not Be Compromised
Guavaberry Media continues to make it clear that supporting of the platform in any way, whether through donations or ad purchases, does not and will not, in any way affect our right to free, open, and unbiased reporting.
“Keep up the good work. Media is supposed to ruffle feathers.” One message read that was sent to our newsroom on Saturday evening.
What Happened On The Sea
Reports are that Gumption’s glass bottom boat started taking in water while out on a tour with guests. Eye witnesses indicate up to seven (persons) were on board, however numbers have not been verified, nor is it a critical detail. It is alleged that the boat became submerged in the water and guests had to be rescued, and the boat saved from fully sinking.
Weather advisory over the weekend warned of dangerous surf and rip currents, particularly on the north shore. It is unclear as an experienced Captain, whether Gumption was aware of said warnings before heading out to sea.
“We warned our guests to not even enter the water today (Saturday).” One hotel Manager indicated to our newsroom when learning of the unfortunate incident.
“It is rough out there today.” One boat captain indicated to us.
But Was It The Weather?
“Not the first time that boat has sank, probably will not be the last and will be up functioning in 2 days.” One concerned Resident shared with our newsroom.
Guavaberry Media stands by its factual reporting, and was only reporting a story as it happened, not intended to bring any questioning of the brand reported in the story. We are happy that both Captain and guests are safe and alive.
