ONE CHARGED FOR AMMUNITION FOLLOWING GUNSHOT REPORTS
During the first press conference for 2025, Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool highlighted the arrest of one male individual stemming from multiple reports of gunshots on the western end of Tortola during the early hours of Wednesday, January 15.
The individual, 28-year-old Shamauri Camsel of St. Thomas, USVI, has since been charged with Unlawful Possession of Explosives and remanded to His Majesty’s Prison following his court appearance.
The arrest occurred after officers intercepted a suspicious vehicle while responding to multiple reports of shots fired throughout the western districts. The vehicle attempted to evade officers but was unsuccessful. A search of the vehicle uncovered a package containing 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The discovery led to the arrest and subsequent charging of the individual.
