The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) continues its unwavering efforts to combat violent crime and maintain public safety in the Territory.
Following search operations conducted in Cane Garden Bay during the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, four individuals have been formally charged in connection with the recovery of two 9mm firearms with a total of twenty (20) rounds of ammunition.
Charged are:
• Kadeem Callwood, 22, of Cane Garden Bay
• Kaheem Callwood, 22, of Cane Garden Bay
• Jerry Smith, 19, of the U.S. Virgin Islands
• A 17-year-old male of Cane Garden Bay
All four individuals have been charged with:
• Keeping a firearm without a licence
• Unlawful possession of explosives
Additionally, Jerry Smith has been charged with Overstaying his landing permit.
The Callwoods were granted bail in the amount of $60,000, but due to the absence of a surety, they have been remanded to His Majesty’s Prison. The 17-year-old male was granted bail of $50,000. Meanwhile, Jerry Smith has been remanded.
The four males are scheduled to re-appear at the Magistrate’s Court on March 5,
2025.
Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool commended the officers involved in the operation, stating:
“The removal of these firearms from our streets is a significant step in making our communities safer. I commend the officers for their professionalism and dedication in this operation and in all other efforts to reduce violent crime in the Territory.”
