US Visitor Charged With Possession Of Ammunition
Jeremy Mark Smith, a US national visiting the Territory (BVI), was arrested yesterday Friday March 28, 2025 at the Terrence B Lettsome International Airport. Smith was found to be in unlawful possession of ammunition.
Smith who is also the holder of a firearms license in the US, traveled to the BVI on 17th March along with his wife for vacation purposes. While departing the territory through the airport yesterday, a search was conducted on his luggage. During the search, Smith pointed the security to a small compartment in the said luggage where a single round of 35 ammunition was found.
GBM understands the suspect was arrested, and interviewed, during which he admitted to owning the single round, but despite pointing the security to the compartment which held the bullet, denied any knowledge of it being inside his luggage.
Smith was charged and granted bail in his own recognisance to appear before the court on Monday 31 March.
Mr. Smith was ordered to surrender all travel documents as part of his bail condition.
This is a developing story.
